These are photographs taken throughout my time as a Flight Paramedic. Enjoy.
The job is a lifestyle. With the patient’s I’ve made a difference in and the ones I wasn’t able to give an extra chance; the memories made, the great partners I’ve had, and the valuable learning experiences with not just medicine, but aviation and life. It’s all been a journey.
Unfortunately, the company I work for now doesn’t allow me to post any photos. Not really sure why that rule is there, but my previous company saw this as an opportunity to promote the job and encourage employees to interact with the teams we worked with from ambulance services and hospitals. What you’ll see here are photos of my journey from my previous employer. I’d imagine, once the next door opens, I’ll update this page to reflect my time at another employer.
I put the base number on my bathroom mirror for months until I got the job. It was just a daily reminder to what I was chasing after.
A good friend I met online that also worked for this company. Stopped by to grab lunch in Illinois on my way to new hire orientation in Missouri.
Day 1 of New Hire!
New hire class!
A few out of our new hire group at dinner.
One thing that impressed me about this company is that they talked about mistakes made and lessons learned. Not only did they point out a couple of errors made with other companies, they pointed out each and every one of their mistakes. They focused on themselves and what they did as a company to improve safety. This was a huge show of how humble this company was at the time.
Part of orientation was aircraft safety.
Couple of awesome dudes I met. One was local and the other from Tennessee.
Had to stop by here on the way home.
Regional intensive training with our regional educator, before we ever step foot on an aircraft. After our initial medical training, our orientation continued for 6 months.
Being awarded my wings after my first patient flight. I remember it like it was yesterday. John P Jones Hospital on Camden, Ala.
Rooftop helipad at UAB.
Just a cool shot at the base.
University of Alabama, Birmingham
Decon...
We frequented FBO's at airports very often. Most of our flights were over an hour long so we always stopped for fuel before coming home.
Arguably the best partner I've ever had. She taught me how to be a better clinician and overall human.
Mom stopped by the base one day to visit.
Nursing students from Auburn. WAR EAGLE!
She also didn't like me sneaking photos. lol
Big... Chicken.
Working at different bases meant meeting new people, or running into people I've actually known for a long time. It's a small world.
Another awesome person I was able to work with on occasion.
We did outreach very often in this town. I always enjoyed getting to talk with the public.
This was a long story... 41 days to be exact. Some of you will get this. We were happy to have ol girl back home.
Sneaking a photo of some in-flight snacks. :D
Now that's what I call delivery service!
Our crew!
Annual Rodeo we would attend.
How could the owner of this horse turn her down?
Always a fun day at work!
Workover at Muscle Shoals, Al
It was cool our base got this award. I always joked about how we got "most improved" after they hired me! HA!
Every once in a while we'd take a road trip, usually pilots timed out, weather, or we'd need food. ...mostly food.
This guy. One of the most incredible humans on the planet!
Great group of folks at our annual awards banquet in Missouri.

"These aren't all mine."
Riding in the floor of the bus coming back to the hotel from the Winery. What a fun time!
Access Challenge was so cool! Teams from each region would compete in scenarios. It was judged by all of the medical directors and finals were in Missouri during the awards ceremony week.

Rockin' Ron, me, and Lindy... drinking coffee at a Church in Mississippi we landed at while we were on standby for the US Marshall Service.
Guys from the Laurel Baptist Church in Mississippi that made us some great coffee!
Well... I had forgot the NVG mounts on my helmet, took the helmet home, and had to meet the aircraft. (I lived 3 hours from the base.)
Perfect setup for some crew rest!
These little ones will steal you heart...
John's going away party...
AE Calendar promotion photo... "Paramedic not included."
Hanging out with the Fire Department.
COVID times sucked.
More food...
COVID hair.
More heart melting...
McDonalds was literally connected to the property. We'd "drive" through.
More milestone wings....
...ooops, 6 feet for COVID.
Dual arrivals at DCH.
I'd send my family photos if I wasn't able to answer the phone...
Probably amped up on caffeine from the gas station across the street.
Somebody loved those ground pounds.
Shenanigans.
Not really sure why... by I wound up with the wrong helmet.
This one... so we had to land for unforecasted weather. The airport... no FBO, no car, nothing. We made do with seat cushions though.
Full moon vibes.
Oh that stupid one wheel... four broken vertebrae and 6 weeks on the couch.
Wound up with blood all over my shoes and had to grab some old people grip socks for the ride home.
Crawfish boil at the Hospital!

It's all fun and games until you find the pilot's friend.
Just in case.
Another incredible nurse I got to train!
Always having fun!
Stopping by at another base for fuel during a 250NM transfer during COVID. Met this guy during new hire and wound up stealing their gas!
Amping up the crowd on a football drop during a local high school game!
My last flight with my favorite crew at this base!
Some of my going away gifts... hair products. lol
Bittersweet...
Leaving town on my last day. Can't say that a lot of tears weren't shed.
What a feeling when you wind up on the base needs list... These folks will always hold a place in my heart!
I came back to celebrate the base's 10 year anniversary with them. Great to catch up!
